1. Students Starting at the Beginning of the Academic Year:
Oct. to April (Previous Year) Admissions committee reviews applicant files as they are completed. In grades where waiting list is expected, the Principals may make an early decision.
March 13 Reserve fee notice is sent to returning parents
April 15 Deadline for returning families to reserve a place by paying reservation fees
April 20 The Registrar communicates with principals the number of seats available in each grade level for following year. (from Reservation Fee data). In consultation with the Principals, and based on recommendations of Admission Committee, the Registrar admits new applicants who have been accepted, as space permits.
April 18-30 All local applicants who still need testing are given the opportunity to take assessments. Test is emailed to representative at prospective student's school for administration, for overseas applicants not already tested.
April 28-29 Preschool visit and screening
April 30 Registrar contacts families informing them of the status of remaining applications:
Accepted and Placed in Grade
Accepted but Waitlisted
Denied Admission
For wait-listed grades, the LCS Admission Policy will guide priority of placement. Priority of Admissions If spaces are limited in a particular grade, applicants who have met all admission requirements will be admitted according to the following priorities:
a. children of US embassy families b. children of teachers c. children with siblings already enrolled d. children with a parent or parents of citizenship other than that of the host country, children whose education has primarily been outside of Ghana irrespective of nationality of the parents. e. children from families who are long-term residents (who have other school options)
Within each category, priority is determined by date of application.
2. For students who apply to join LCS during the academic year, the same process will be followed but the timeline will be determined by the initial date of application.
