Living in Ghana gives you the opportunity for lots of new, exciting and often unexpected experiences. From relaxing on beautiful beaches to getting up close to elephants in Mole National Park, braving the canopy walk at Kakum, haggling over African artefacts in the Arts Centre or bargaining hard in Accra’s Makola market, and discovering the historic Slave Forts along the coast. At certain times of the year you can even watch turtles laying their eggs!
Some LCS teachers spend their free time hiking or mountain biking, surfing, enjoying water sports, sunbathing, playing football, shopping, eating and drinking in the wide variety of restaurants or local outdoor chop shop spots, rehearsing for concerts, plays. Opportunities exist to volunteer in local NGO projects which can be very rewarding. You can also take African drumming and/or dance lessons or watch local festivals throughout the year. In the evenings you can listen to live reggae or highlife music or dance to the wee small hours of the morning in one of the many night spots.
Holidays can easily be spent exploring Ghana or neighbouring Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso. Recently teachers have also travelled further a field from Ghana to South Africa, Dubai, Europe, Egypt, Morroco and Kenya.
