Amber Rhinehart
MYP English and Humanities Teacher, 2nd Year
Life at LCS:
Having worked at Lincoln for the past 1 ½ years teaching four different grade levels in the MYP, I have been exposed to much that occurs professionally. Lincoln is a dynamic school that thrives on teachers who work very hard, but also like to enjoy each other. Having taught at three previous schools, from an international school in Cambodia to an urban public school in the U.S., I have been exposed to many different educational institutions, and none are quite like this one. I am consistently astounded by the amount of commitment and experience that the teachers of Lincoln have. Never before have I worked in an environment where teachers are so dedicated to the well being and sound education of their students. More>>>

Randy Girdner
Design Technology teacher and parent of 2 children,
1st year
A Parent/Teacher Perspective:
My family moved to Ghana in August of 2006 and it has been a pleasurable experience. We have two daughters, now 4 and 2 years old, and they have made the adjustment with flying colors. I cannot hide the fact that the move was hard, especially with two children of that age, but we are all the better for having made the decision to come to the school. My oldest daughter absolutely loves being in her pre K class and there is something thrilling to me about the diversity that she experiences every day in the classroom. To see her interacting with students from different countries and being in a positive, caring environment has been extremely rewarding and has also served to reinforce our decision to raise our children overseas. Rebecca Grace Phillips
PYP Coordinator, 3rd Year
Life at LCS:
Lincoln Community School is an ambitious and busy school, always trying to improve itself. There tends to be a lot going on in the school all the time and that can feel overwhelming, especially when you are new. The staff are professional and friendly. There are a number of different nationalities, including many Ghanaians. This year a new Elementary School Principal was appointed, Elsa Donohue. She is fantastic to work for, has lots of energy and is committed and passionate about her job and education. The Elementary School was authorized to offer the PYP last June. The PYP is quite established in the school but there is always more to learn and develop. Currently we are working on our scope and sequence documents, amongst other things. More>>>

Victoria Rio
MYP Coordinator, 8th Year
Life at LCS
I’ve been an employee at Lincoln for the past six (6) years (in the secondary school), and like life in Ghana, I can say that every day and every year at Lincoln is also an exciting challenge and adventure! Those of us who have been around awhile have seen many people come and go over the years and a bewildering amount of change in a relatively short period of time. What I really enjoy about working here is the support and freedom teachers are given to try new approaches in their classrooms, introduce new material, and take on leadership roles in many different aspects and areas of school life. If you are more of an innovative, independent teacher who is willing to dive right in and make things happen, you will do very well here. Since we are both MYP and DP in the senior school, obtaining some basic introductory training before you arrive is highly recommended. More>>> |
