FAQ

When can applications be submitted?

Applications can be submitted at any time during the school year. Please note that, since we do have wait pools in certain grade levels, early applications are encouraged.

How do I apply?

Please carefully review the information on our website under Admissions.  A detailed account of the policy and procedures is included there. You may also fill out our online inquiry form for further assistance.

Does LCS accept students with special needs?

LCS does not offer the full continuum of special education programs as mandated by law for public schools in the United States. Admission is contingent upon a match between the student's needs and the level of services available. For that reason, the admission of any special needs student is determined on a case-by-case basis using multiple sources of information such as school records, evaluations, and interviews with students, parents and teachers.

Should my child be fluent in English to attend LCS?

Only if your child is applying for grades nine and above.

What languages are offered at LCS?

LCS offers French classes from grades one through twelve, and Spanish classes starting in grade nine.

Is parental involvement welcomed?

LCS has a highly involved parent community.  By browsing through the PTO pages, under the Community section of our website, you will get a clear sense of how valued parental involvement is at LCS and how active the parent community is in our students's lives.

Where do teachers come from?

LCS teaching staff comprises members of a very international community with over 15 nationalities represented.

Will my child need to take a placement test?

Some applicants seeking entry into pre-kindergarten to grade 5 may go through screening/interview. Applicants for grade 6 to12 may be tested and/or interviewed. To expedite the application process, applicants should include standardized test scores/results recognized by LCS, for example: ITBS, CAT, Stanford 9 or 10, ISA, ERB.  If the applicant has taken a US or international standardized achievement test result within the last two years, this may be accepted in lieu of the screener/interview. Please send these results along with the school records.

  • Screening interviews for pre-kindergaten to grade 5 applicants are scheduled after a review of the application and school records by the Admission Committee.
  • Testing and/or interviews for grade 6-12 applicants are scheduled after a review of the application and school records by the Admission Committee.
  • The testing/screening has several components that may be mandatory for entrance such as English language skills and mathematics, a writing sample, reading etc.
  • Please note that results of screening/interviews/testing may take up to 48 hours (two working days). In some cases, results may be reviewed prior to a new student's start of school. We encourage families to avail themselves at their earliest convenience when they arrive in Ghana for screening interview for pre-kindergarten to grade 5 and testing and/or interview for grades 6 to 12 to be conducted. Final placement will be based upon review of screening/interviews/testing results and educational history of the child. The Admission Office will contact you both for scheduling and to announce the final admission decision to you before start of school.

What are the procedures for withdrawing a child from LCS?

Parents must formally notify the Registrar by completing the Student Withdrawal Form.  More information can be found on the withdrawal page.
