The Lincoln Community School (LCS) is a private, non-profit, college preparatory day school which offers educational programs for Pre-Kindergarten (age 4) through grade 12 students. We are accredited with the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States and by the Council of International Schools (CIS). The School is international in both population (60+ nations represented) and philosophy, with an emphasis on inquiry and problem solving. The educational program is designed to be appropriately challenging, and to allow a smooth transition into other international schools around the world. LCS is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, authorized to offer all three levels of the IB program. These three levels of the IB programme guide the curriculum: the Primary Years Programme (PK–grade 5), the Middle Years Programme (grades 6-10) and the IB Diploma Programme (grades 11-12). Class sizes normally do not exceed 20 students. Students are taught in four 80 minute classes a day and can expect homework for 1 to 3 hours a night depending on grade level. Ninety-five percent of students go immediately on to college or university, the other 5% take a gap year but resume their higher education within two years. The educational program includes classes in art, music, physical education, drama, technology, Spanish and French. English as an additional language (EAL) and Learning Support Service Programs are provided. SAT and PSAT tests are hosted in school, and their results reported through the school, but classes are not provided. Many students take additional classes with other organisations in Accra.
