This Year’s GHAMUN Conference - A Huge Success

By Hannah Foulke

This year LCS hosted the Ghana Model United Nations (GHAMUN) on Feb. 7 - 9. Students from various schools in Ghana converged on the LCS campus for one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar.  The 2013 Ghana Model United Nations Conference really showed the high levels of commitment and enthusiasm of all of the participants involved. From the intense debates, to the all of the preparations going on behind the scenes, to our wonderful leaders who ran the whole thing, this conference was definitely a huge success. To take us back to Secretary General, Aparajita Mehra’s speech at the Opening Ceremony was inspirational, to say the least. She reminded us of the simpler times when we were younger, without prejudice, and encouraged us to strive to find the unity within our collective group. To “go forth and meddle,” try to overcome our differences, and ultimately search out solutions to the problems going on in the world through diplomacy. And overcome their differences ,this year’s delegates did. A highly successful and exciting conference was had by all; hopefully next year’s will be just as fun and productive!
