The National Honour Society (NHS) is a prestigious academic organisation which comprises of juniors and seniors in high school. Members are chosen based on their demonstration of the four pillars the NHS is based around: scholarship, service, leadership and character. These four pillars lead the NHS in its four main purposes; to create enthusiasm for scholarships, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character.
The NHS works to fulfill these goals both on and off campus mainly through organised activities and fundraisers. To reach out beyond the LCS community, the NHS works towards raising money for scholarships for local students to attend schools, which includes money for books, uniforms and other school supplies which are essential for their studies. To fundraise, the NHS hosts many on-campus events, such as the annual NHS auction and ice cream sales. In order to support LCS students as well, the NHS holds more on campus activities such as organised mentoring sessions for 6th graders.
Coming up, there will be a playlist on the High School SRC YouTube channel managed by the NHS comprising of videos aimed to help high school students academically (ie. How To Choose an Extended Essay Topic).
