Academic Programs
International Baccalaureate Program

The academic program at Lincoln follows the guidelines of all three International Baccalaureate Programs. Lincoln is officially authorized by the IBO to offer the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programs. American teaching methods are used to deliver a dynamic, student-centered, international curriculum that meets global standards for the best education available.

The IB PYP or Primary Years Program is for students in Pre-K through grade 5. It builds upon each child's individual strengths, developing deep understanding of important concepts and acquiring and practicing essential skills, while encouraging positive attitudes and actions toward the people around them and the environment. From the child's first year in school he/she is encouraged to be in charge of their learning. Integral within each unit of inquiry are questions asked by the children. Through exploration and investigation the children develop the skills to conduct research, empowering them with the tools to understand their world.

The IB MYP or Middle Years Program is for students in grades 6 - 10. It provides a framework of academic challenges and life skills for students. The program offers an educational approach that embraces yet transcends traditional school subjects. The MYP Program is based on the premise that education can foster understanding among young people around the world, enabling future generations to live more peacefully and productively than we do today. Intellectual awareness is central to the program. The program provides a thorough study of various disciplines and accentuates their interrelatedness.

The IB Diploma Program is for students in grades 11 and 12. The curriculum is prescribed by the IBO. Students study six subject areas and gain depth and breadth of knowledge. The Diploma Program is rigorous and challenging and provides students with the background and preparation for university work. Assessment for the IB Diploma is by internationally developed and graded oral and written examinations and papers. Beyond the course work requirements, students take a Theory of Knowledge course, write an extended essay of 4,000 words and participate in the CAS program for creativity, action and service. The IB Diploma is the "gold standard" for high school diplomas and will enable students to be regarded favorably for university acceptance all over the world.
