New Horizon Going Techy

For their January 31 trip, the New Horizon Special School club, as usual works with different aspects of the school curriculum. There are several activities the school offers for the students to collaborate and work on.
They are:-
  • Girls Imaginary Play
  • Drumming & Dancing
  • Outdoor play- Reading
  • Board games
  • Boys Imaginary play

However, another place our students wanted to look into was with their IT department facilities. Though the school has made modest gains in this area, they are having challenges with their CPU working smoothly. Two members Michael Oppong-Ampomah and Yajas Malhotra with Bester Tchale are working to help find solutions. These gentlemen have a certain knack with such a field. Michael is into Hardware, while Yajas specializes in software.

Their contribution is to help with the CPU problem as a CAS project. True to their word, they have started work on dismantling serviceable and non serviceable CPUs. Tinkering here and there, they have increased memory size by replacing old memory chips for starters. They will also be investigating ways to improve the life span of the equipment from a mouse to a monitor to a printer. It will be interesting to see how they fare as risk taking problem solvers.Other members also delight in outdoor play or reading to the children or bead making or drawing and coloring
