LCS Intern wins gold at National Championship in Egypt
Laila Zangwino started swimming two years ago and made it to the national team with the help of her swim club, Gh Dolphins, in Ghana. Her interest in triathlon begun a year ago, when she was encouraged by her coach to take up the sport because he felt she could do it. She already had a swim background and cycling and running, he felt, would not be too much of a problem.
After introducing her to the sport, she participated in the national championship in Ghana, which had participants from ECOWAS countries, and came first. She participated for the second time and came first again. This gave her the privilege of representing Ghana at the national championships in Egypt, where she topped the competition for the 20-25 age category and placed 4th for all of Africa. Currently, She has been to 5 triathlon competitons and won gold in each.
