The Arts at LCS

Art in the Elementary School

The Primary Years Programme encourages the expression of creativity through art whether that is through painting and drawing, dramatic performances or music. As you walk in to the atrium of the new LCS Elementary School building you will usually find displays of artwork greeting you. Students of the Elementary School engage in artistic creativity in every grade and unit of inquiry learning to express their learning through practical creativity.

Art in the Secondary School

Starting in middle school, students have the opportunity to learn a wide range of instruments and join various school bands. The year features two main band concerts where students showcase their progress in performances that may also serve as formal assessments.

Drama, theatre, and dance are core parts of the curriculum, alongside the study of film and video production. LCS provides specialized facilities for these programs, including a black box theatre for rehearsals and a newly soundproofed auditorium for large-scale productions.

Fine art at LCS maintains a long-standing tradition through numerous exhibitions held throughout the year. The program’s signature event is the IB Art Show, where seniors display the creative work that contributes to their final grades.
