What AMIS Membership Means for Lincoln Community School Students

Membership in AMIS opens the door to a world of musical collaboration, competition, and growth. Our band teacher shared more about what’s ahead:

“I want to share our membership of AMIS gives our students access to music events around the world. There are also virtual competitions and showcases that we will start participating in next year.

I am taking a small group of students to London in October for a jazz skills workshop that will include students from all regions, and we will also be going to Kenya for an auditioned band and choir festival where the students will get the unique experience of playing or singing in a large ensemble. “

What’s Coming Up

• October 2026 – Lincoln Community School students will travel to London for a jazz skills workshop alongside peers from international schools across the globe.
• Later this year – Students will begin participating in AMIS virtual competitions and showcases, connecting them with musicians from other regions without leaving campus.
• Auditioned Festival in Kenya – Selected students will travel to the ISK Kenya music festival, where they’ll have the rare opportunity to perform in a large honor ensemble alongside talented musicians from other international schools across Africa.
• March 2027 – Lincoln Community School will host the West African International School Activities League (WAISAL) band festival in Ghana, welcoming musicians from schools across our region to perform together right here on our campus.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Being the first and only school in Ghana to join AMIS is more than a badge of membership. It shows the quality of music education we offer, and it promises new experiences for our students. From international workshops to hosting our events, this partnership brings the world of music to Lincoln Community School – and takes our students out into it.
