Vincent van Halsema attended Lincoln Community School in 2001 and while he was only at LCS for a short time, it left a big impact. Academics and community service made his time at LCS memorable, some of his favourite memories being his involvement in Habitat for Humanity and learning to build clay bricks. He also has fond memories of acting in school plays and assisting with theatre productions.
Today, Vincent works for UNICEF, Ghana. He will be moving to Rome to work for the World Food Program (WFP) in Italy. Vincent shared, "I specialize in helping governments design and implement social protection systems for vulnerable persons - such as social cash transfers, health insurance, school feeding etc. This helps millions of people get support to face challenges in life."
Vincent says during his time at LCS he made some cool friends and enjoyed some "awesome teachers". His advice to Lincoln Learners, "Explore your passions to determine what may interest you for college. Try extra curricular activities to get a sense of what your strengths are. Get out of your bubble and grab every single experience or opportunity offered." Vincent is passionate about his work with UNICEF, cooking, dancing, celebrating life with friends, and best of all, his daughter!
Thank you Vincent for sharing your memories and good luck to you on your move to Rome.
