Career Day @ LCS

On Wednesday September 26th 2018, Grade 10 and 11 students had the opportunity to participate in the first annual career day here at Lincoln School. As part of the preparations towards this event, students took their interest profiler test in Maia Learning ( a university application tool) where they explored various career options based on their interests. The Organisation of career Day started in Spring of the 2017/2018 school year and we saw the finished work on September 26th 2018. The objectives for career day this year were:

1. To introduce students to a wide variety of career opportunities available to them.

2. To enable students establish a concrete connection with real life, school work, educational opportunities and future careers.

Career day this year saw distinguished parents, alumni and friends of Lincoln Community School who had volunteered to be the speakers for the day. The event was in two segments: In the first segment, students listened to a rich blend of speakers from various career fields speak to them about why they chose their career, what they loved best about their career and how they managed challenges in their career fields. In the second segment (career fair) students had the opportunity to interact further with these professionals at their individual stands in the NPAT.

A big thank you to all of our ten (10) speakers who volunteered this year and we look forward to welcoming more volunteers for next year's Career day.

Quote from a Parent:

"It's always a delight to impart positively into the lives of the younger generation and I am glad to have been part of this morning's session.
I was also highly impressed with the inquisitive minds expressed by the students who visited my table and I really encourage future events like this which definitely will assist students in their decision making process as they move further up the ladder. Well done" - Mrs Chinebuah LCS parent for over 20 years
