Making a Difference in Our Community

In the early morning hours while vendors and volunteers were setting up
for the LCS Bazaar, several teachers and students were at the Swiss-German
International School running to better the lives of children living on the
streets in Accra.

Benefitting Chance for Children, a local organization that empowers children
living on the streets in Accra, runners were able to choose their entrance fee
based on whether they would provide one meal, basic hygiene supplies, or
new clothes. Amon Kotey, co-founder of CFC, indicates that Chance for Children
is a place for street children in Accra to experience love and security, while
receiving a school education and vocational training. Not only did teachers
and students from LCS show support through running the 5K or 10K race,
but LCS's National Honor Society donated eight pizzas, along with ten cakes
to be sold at the half day event.

Due to the NHS's generosity, Chance for Children was able to make GHC
691 from the sale of these items. In total, Chance for Children raised
GHC 37,022 through this event. Thank you LCS teachers and students
for supporting and caring for children in your local community. If you
would like more information on volunteering or donating to Chance for
Children, please contact them directly at admin-gh@chance-for-children.org, or
